저명한 피아니스트 알렉산더 코브린(Alexander Kobrin)은 감성적이면서도 탁월한 테크닉이 돋보이는 연주로 폭넓은 찬사를 받아 왔으며, 오늘날 가장 주목받는 연주자 중 한 명으로 자리매김하고 있다. 

코브린은 뉴욕 필하모닉, 도쿄 필하모닉, 오케스트라 베르디, 러시아 내셔널 오케스트라, 잉글리시 체임버 오케스트라, 스위스 로망드 오케스트라, 로열 리버풀 필하모닉, 댈러스 심포니, 베를린 심포니, 스웨덴 라디오 심포니, 바르샤바 필하모닉, BBC 심포니 오케스트라 등 세계 유수의 오케스트라와 활발히 협연하고 있다. 

그는 미하일 플레트네프, 미하일 유로프스키, 마크 엘더 경, 바실리 시나이스키, 제임스 콘론, 클라우스 페터 플로어, 바실리 페트렌코, 브램웰 토비 등 여러 지휘자들과 함께 작업해 왔다. 또한 뉴욕 카네기홀과 에이버리 피셔 홀, 워싱턴 케네디 센터, 런던 앨버트 홀과 위그모어 홀, 파리 루브르 오디토리움, 살 가보, 살 코르토, 독일 뮌헨 헤라클레스잘과 베를린 필하모니 홀, 모스크바 음악원 대강당, 싱가포르 에스플러네이드 홀, 밀라노 살라 베르디 등 세계 주요 공연장에서 리사이틀을 개최해 왔다. 그 밖에도 클라이번 시리즈의 배스 홀 리사이틀, 워싱턴 퍼포밍 아츠 소사이어티, 라 로크 당테롱, 라비니아 페스티벌, 베토벤 부활절 페스티벌, 부조니 페스티벌, 저명한 루르 피아노 페스티벌, 인터내셔널 키보드 인스티튜트 & 페스티벌 무대에 올랐으며, 일본, 중국, 대만에서 매년 콘서트 투어를 이어가고 있다.

코브린은 Harmonia Mundi, Quartz, Centaur 레이블을 통해 폭넓은 피아노 문헌을 아우르는 음반을 발매했으며, 이 음반들은 호평을 받았다.

반 클라이번 콩쿠르 우승 외에도 그는 부조니 국제 피아노 콩쿠르 1위, 하마마쓰 국제 피아노 콩쿠르 최고상, 글래스고 스코틀랜드 국제 피아노 콩쿠르 1위 등 다수의 국제 피아노 콩쿠르에서 최고상을 수상하였다. 

코브린은 반 클라이번, 부조니, 파데레프스키, 하마마쓰, 서울국제피아노콩쿠르를 비롯한 여러 국제 피아노 콩쿠르에서 심사위원으로 자주 위촉되고 있다. 또한 그는 헌신적인 교육자로서 미국과 해외에서의 교육 활동에 깊은 열정을 가지고 있다. 2017년부터 뉴욕주 로체스터의 명문 이스트만 음대 교수진으로 재직 중이며, 2003년부터 2010년까지는 러시아 국립 그네신 음악원에서 교수로 재직했다. 2010년에는 콜럼버스 주립대학교 슈워브 음악대학의 L. Rexford 석좌교수로 임명되었고, 2013년부터 2017년까지는 뉴욕대학교 스타인하트 스쿨의 저명한 아티스트 교수진으로 활동했다. 코브린은 유럽과 아시아, 일본 및 중국의 음악원에서 매년 마스터클래스를 진행하고 있다. 

최근 주요 활동으로는 Centaur Records를 위한 베토벤 피아노 소나타 전곡 프로젝트와 2023–2024 시즌 이스트만 음대에서의 실황 연주가 있다. 

2024년 1월, 코브린은 이스트만 음대에서 기금 석좌교수직을 수여받아 Wentworth Family Professor 칭호를 받았다. 그는 Shigeru Kawai 아티스트이다.

Distinguished pianist Alexander Kobrin, has received wide acclaim for his emotional, technically inspired performances, placing him at the forefront of today’s performing artists. 

Mr. Kobrin is an active guest soloist with the world’s leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic, Orchestra Verdi, Russian National Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony, Berliner Symphony, Swedish Radio Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonic, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

He has collaborated with such conductors as Mikhail Pletnev, Mikhail Jurovsky, Sir Mark Elder, Vassiliy Sinaisky, James Conlon, Claus Peter Flor, Vassiliy Petrenko and Bramwell Tovey.

He appears in recitals at major halls worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York, the Kennedy Centre in Washington, Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, Louvre Auditorium, Salle Gaveau and Salle Cortot in Paris, Munich Herkulesaal and Berliner Philharmonie Hall in Germany, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, Esplanade Hall in Singapore as well as Sala Verdi in Milan and many others. Other performances include recitals at Bass Hall for the Cliburn Series, the Washington Performing Arts Society, La Roque d'Antheron, the Ravinia Festival, the Beethoven Easter Festival, Busoni Festival, the renowned Klavier-Festival Ruhr, the International Keyboard Institute & Festival, annual concert tours in Japan, China, and Taiwan.

Mr. Kobrin has recorded for Harmonia Mundi, Quartz, and Centaur labels, covering a wide swath of the piano literature, which have received rave reviews.

In addition to the Van Cliburn, Mr. Kobrin has garnered top prizes from numerous international piano competitions including the Busoni International Piano Competition (First Prize), Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (Top Prize), Scottish International Piano Competition in Glasgow (First Prize).

Mr. Kobrin frequently serves as a jury member for many international piano competitions, including the Van Cliburn, Busoni, Paderewski, Hamamatsu and Seoul international piano competitions. Mr. Kobrin is a dedicated teacher and is passionate about his contributions to education both in the U.S. and abroad. Since 2017, Mr. Kobrin has served on the faculty of the renowned Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. From 2003 to 2010 he served on the faculty of the Russian State Gnessin’s Academy of Music. In 2010 Alexander Kobrin was named the L. Rexford Distinguished Chair in Piano at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, and from 2013 until 2017, he was a member of the celebrated Artist Faculty of New York University’s Steinhardt School. Mr. Kobrin is giving annual masterclasses in Europe and Asia, at the Conservatories of Japan and China.

Recent highlights include the Complete Beethoven Sonatas Project for Centaur Records and live performances at the Eastman School of Music during the 2023-2024 season. 

In January 2024 Mr. Kobrin was awarded an endowed professorship and received a title Wentworth Family Professor at Eastman School of music. Mr. Kobrin is a Shigeru Kawai artist.
