음악에 대한 깊이 있는 해석과 다채로운 표현력으로 주목 받는 차세대 플루티스트 장현진은 연세대학교 석• 박사 통합과정에 입학하여 현재 박사과정을 수료 하였으며, KT심포니오케스트라, 코리아플루트솔로이스츠에서 활동하며 다양한 실내악 연주 및 솔리스트로서 왕성한 활동을 하고 있다. 그녀는 연세대학교 음악대학에서 학사학위를 취득하였으며, 미국 맨하탄 음악대학에서 President s Award 장학생으로 선발되어 우수한 성적으로 석사학위를 취득하였다. 

장현진은 유학시절 Eisenberg-Fried Woodwind Concerto Competition을 우승하며 George Manahan의 지휘 아래 MSM Phiharmonia와 협연을 하였고, Kurt Masur Conducting Seminar에서 오케스트라 수석 주자를 역임하였으며, 뉴욕 Carnegie Weill Hall, Greenfield Hall, Borden Auditorium 등에서 독주 및 실내악 연주를 하였다. 국내에서는 예술의전당 리사이틀홀 독주회, 조선일보 신인음악회, 엘림아트센터 초청 독주회, 서울챔버오케스트라, W Symphony 오케스트라 등 다양한 협연 및 독주회와 실내악 연주를 통해 전문 연주자로서 활발한 연주활동을 전개해왔다. 솔리스트로서의 연주뿐만 아니라 KBS교향악단, 국립심포니오케스트라, 대전시립교향악단, 청주시립교향악단, 충남교향악단, 성남시립교향악단, 유라시안필하모닉오케스트라, 프라임필하모닉오케스트라에서 객원 수석 및 부수석을 역임하며 오케스트라에서도 그 능력을 인정받았다. 

또한 성정콩쿨, 한국플루트협회콩쿨, 서울필하모닉오케스트라콩쿨 등 다수 콩쿨에서 입상하여 그 실력을 인정받았으며, Robert Langevin, Carol Wincenc, Linda Chesis, Jeanne Baxtresser, Walter Auer, Demarre McGill, Jeffrey Khaner, Vincenc Prats, Bart Feller의 마스터 클래스에 참가하며 학구적인 면모를 쌓아왔다. 

연주자로서의 도전과 학업에 대한 열정을 이어가고 있는 플루티스트 장현진은 연세대학교, 총신대학교, 선화예술고등학교, 경기예술고등학교 강사를 역임하고 현재 부산대학교와 영남대학교, 한국예술종합학교 영재원, 덕원예술고등학교에 출강하여 후학 양성에 힘쓰고 있으며, 한국플루트협회 이사로 활동함과 동시에 서초교향악단 객원수석 및 코리아플루트솔로이스츠 단원으로 다양한 무대를 계획하며 관객과 소통하는 연주를 이어나가고 있다.

Flutist Hyunjin Jang, recognized as a next-generation artist for her profound musical interpretation and richly nuanced expressivity, has completed her doctoral coursework at Yonsei University. She is actively pursuing a wide-ranging career as a soloist and chamber musician, performing with the KT Symphony Orchestra and Korea Flute Soloists. 

Jang earned her Bachelor’s degree from the College of Music at Yonsei University. She later received her Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music in the United States, where she was selected as a recipient of the President’s Award Scholarship and graduated with distinction. 

During her studies in the United States, Jang won the Eisenberg-Fried Woodwind Concerto Competition and performed as a soloist with the MSM Philharmonia under the baton of George Manahan. She also served as principal flutist for the Kurt Masur Conducting Seminar Orchestra and appeared in solo and chamber music performances at major New York venues, including Carnegie Weill Hall, Greenfield Hall, and Borden Auditorium. 

In Korea, she has built an active career as a professional performer through numerous solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and concerto appearances. Her engagements include a solo recital at the Seoul Arts Center Recital Hall, the Chosun Ilbo Debut Concert, an invitational solo recital at Elim Art Center, and concerto performances with the Seoul Chamber Orchestra and W Symphony Orchestra. 

In addition to her work as a soloist, Jang has been recognized for her excellence as an orchestral musician, having served as guest principal and associate principal flutist with leading ensembles such as the KBS Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, Cheongju Philharmonic Orchestra, Chungnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra, Eurasian Philharmonic Orchestra, and Prime Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also distinguished herself through prizes at numerous competitions, including the Sungjung Music Competition, Korea Flute Association Competition, and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Competition. Further demonstrating her artistic and scholarly dedication, she has participated in masterclasses with Robert Langevin, Carol Wincenc, Linda Chesis, Jeanne Baxtresser, Walter Auer, Demarre McGill, Jeffrey Khaner, Vincent Prats, and Bart Feller. 

 Continuing her passion for both performance and education, Jang has served as a lecturer at Yonsei University, Chongshin University, Sunhwa Arts High School, and Gyeonggi Arts High School. She currently teaches at Pusan National University, Yeungnam University, the Korea National University of Arts Gifted Education Center, and Deokwon Arts High School, devoting herself to the education of the next generation of musicians. She also serves as a board member of the Korea Flute Association, while continuing to connect with audiences through diverse performances as guest principal flutist of the Seocho Symphony Orchestra and as a member of Korea Flute Soloists.
