클라리넷 연주자 장재혁은 서울예술고등학교를 졸업하고 서울대학교 음악대학 재학 중 도불하여, 파리국립고등음악원(Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, CNSMDP)에서 학사와 석사 과정을 모두 우수한 성적으로 마쳤다. 유학 시절, 프랑스 특유의 섬세한 음색과 세련된 음악적 표현을 바탕으로 자신만의 클라리넷 음색을 확립하였으며, 파리오케스트라, 라디오프랑스오케스트라, 유럽챔버오케스트라 등 유수의 오케스트라에 객원으로 초청되어 연주하며 국제적인 무대 경험을 쌓았다. 

국내에서는 한국클라리넷협회 콩쿠르 대상, 부산콩쿠르 및 성정콩쿠르 1위, 그리고 동아콩쿠르와 이화경향콩쿠르 입상 등 다수의 콩쿠르에서 두각을 나타내며 일찍이 그 실력을 인정받았다. 부산시립교향악단 클라리넷 수석 연주자로 발탁되어 귀국길에 오른 후 영남대학교와 인제대학교에서 겸임교수로 후학을 양성하였으며 실내악 단체 Trio Les Amis, The K-winds의 단원으로 활발한 연주 활동을 이어가고 있으며, 현재는 부산시립교향악단 클라리넷 수석 활동과 더불어 서울대학교, 부산대학교, 경북대학교에 출강하여 후학을 지도하고 있다.

깊이 있는 음악 해석과 따뜻한 음색으로 관객과의 진정한 소통을 추구하는 그는, 솔리스트이자 앙상블 연주자로서 폭넓은 레퍼토리를 통해 클라리넷의 매력을 끊임없이 탐구하고 있다.

Clarinetist Jae Hyuk Chang graduated from Seoul Arts High School and, while studying at Seoul National University College of Music, moved to France to continue his studies. He completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies with distinction at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP).

During his years in France, Chang developed his own distinctive clarinet sound, shaped by the refined tone and sophisticated musical expression characteristic of the French tradition. He also gained extensive international experience through guest appearances with leading orchestras, including the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. 

In Korea, he was recognized early on for his outstanding talent, winning the Grand Prize at the Korea Clarinet Association Competition, first prizes at the Busan Music Competition and the Seongjeong Music Competition, and prizes at the Dong-A Music Competition and the Ewha & Kyunghyang Music Competition. 

After being appointed Principal Clarinet of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and returning to Korea, Chang taught the next generation of musicians as an adjunct professor at Yeungnam University and Inje University. He has also remained active as a chamber musician, performing as a member of Trio Les Amis and The K-Winds. He currently serves as Principal Clarinet of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and teaches at Seoul National University, Pusan National University, and Kyungpook National University. 

With profound musical insight and a warm, expressive tone, Chang seeks genuine communication with audiences. As both a soloist and ensemble musician, he continues to explore the full expressive range and appeal of the clarinet through a broad repertoire.
