러시아의 바이올리니스트이자 지휘자인 막심 페도토프는 차이코프스키 국제 음악콩쿠르, 파가니니 국제 콩쿠르, 도쿄 국제 콩쿠르 등 세계 주요 바이올린 콩쿠르의 우승자이자 모스크바 시티 프라이즈 수상자이다. 그는 러시아의 국민 예술가로 선정되었으며, 모스크바 국립음악원 교수이자 러시아 음악 아카데미 바이올린·비올라 학과 학장을 역임하고 있다.

유럽 언론으로부터 “러시아의 파가니니”라는 찬사를 받은 그는 세계적인 콘서트홀에서 유수의 오케스트라 및 지휘자들과 협연하며 활발한 국제 활동을 이어가고 있다. 특히 지난 10년 동안 모스크바 국립음악원 그랜드홀에서만 50회 이상의 연주회를 개최하였다.

2003년 상트페테르부르크 공연에서는 파가니니가 사용했던 Guarneri del Gesù와 J.B. Vuillaume 바이올린으로 연주한 최초의 바이올리니스트로 주목받았다. 또한 그의 대표적인 음반으로는 파가니니의 ‘24 카프리치오(DML Classics)’와 브루흐의 ‘바이올린과 오케스트라를 위한 협주곡(Naxos)’ 전곡 시리즈 등이 있다. 

2003년 러시아 심포니 오케스트라의 상임지휘자로 활동을 시작한 그는, 2006년 모스크바 시립 심포니 오케스트라 ‘러시안 필하모닉’의 예술감독 겸 상임지휘자로 위촉되어 폭넓은 레퍼토리와 음악성으로 높은 평가를 받고 있다. 

Russian violinist and conductor Maxim Fedotov is the winner of major international violin competitions including the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Paganini International Competition, and the Tokyo International Competition, as well as a recipient of the Moscow City Prize. He has been honored as a People’s Artist of Russia and currently serves as professor at the Moscow State Conservatory and dean of the Violin and Viola Department at the Russian Academy of Music.

Praised by European media as “the Russian Paganini,” Fedotov has appeared in leading concert halls worldwide, collaborating with distinguished orchestras and conductors. Over the past decade alone, he has presented more than fifty performances at the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.

In a 2003 performance in St. Petersburg, he became the first violinist to perform on stage using Paganini’s historic violins by Guarneri del Gesù and J.B. Vuillaume. His acclaimed discography includes Paganini’s 24 Caprices (DML Classics) and the complete Bruch works for violin and orchestra (Naxos).

Fedotov began his conducting career in 2003 as Principal Conductor of the Russian Symphony Orchestra, and in 2006 was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Moscow City Symphony Orchestra “Russian Philharmonic,” where he continues to earn acclaim for his broad repertoire and musical leadership.
