김 남 훈

Violinst Nam-Hoon Kim

바이올리니스트 김남훈은 예원학교를 졸업하고 서울예술고등학교를 조기 졸업한 후 한국예술종합학교에 영재로 입학하여 예술사 및 전문연주자 과정을 졸업하였다. 이후 미국 Manhattan School of Music에서 Master of Music 학위를 취득하고 Professional Studies 과정을 이수하였으며, Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts에서 음악박사(Doctor of Musical Arts) 학위를 취득하였다. 


중앙일보 콩쿠르 2위, 해외파견음협콩쿠르 1위, 이화경향 콩쿠르 1위, 코리아필하모닉 콩쿠르 1위, 한국일보 콩쿠르 2위, 조선일보 콩쿠르 2위에 입상하였다. 그는 또한 열두 살에 뉴서울필하모닉오케스트라와 협연하며 무대에 데뷔한 이후 서울심포니오케스트라, 서울챔버오케스트라 등과 협연하며 연주 활동을 이어갔다. 1998년 세종문화회관 독주회와 2002년 금호 영아티스트 독주회를 통해 활발한 독주 활동을 펼쳤으며, 2008년 Decca에서 발매된 바이올리니스트 김지연의 음반 Serenata Notturno 녹음에도 참여하였다.


이후 보스턴의 Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, 부다페스트의 MAV Symphony Orchestra와 협연하며 해외 무대에서도 활동 영역을 넓혔다. 박사과정 재학 및 졸업 과정에서 카네기홀 독주회, JSAC 초청 Gala Concert, Georgia State University Symphony Orchestra 초청 협연, 통영국제음악재단 초청 독주회 등 다양한 무대에서 연주하였다. 또한 애틀랜타 Korean Film Music Concert에서 Atlanta Sinfonia 외 다수의 국내외 오케스트라에서 악장을 맡아 오케스트라 리더십을 발휘하였다. 


현재 계명대학교 음악공연예술대학 전임교수로 재직하며 교육과 연주 활동을 병행하고 있다. Trio ON, V9 Ensemble, 화음챔버오케스트라, 대구 비르투오조 챔버 리더, New-Old Ensemble, Ensemble The First 등 다양한 단체에서 활동하며 실내악 연주자로서도 활발한 무대를 이어가고 있으며, 덕수궁 석조전을 비롯한 다양한 공연으로 관객과 만나고 있다. 


그는 김남윤, 김동현, 박상우, Lucie Robert, Todd Phillips, Michael Kim을 사사하였다. 

Violinist Namhoon Kim graduated from Yewon School and completed his studies early at Seoul Arts High School before entering the Korea National University of Arts as a gifted student, where he completed both the Bachelor of Arts and Professional Performance programs. He later earned a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music in the United States and completed its Professional Studies program. He went on to receive a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts. 


Kim has received numerous distinctions, including Second Prize at the JoongAng Music Concours, First Prize at the Music Association of Korea Overseas Dispatch Competition, First Prize at the Ewha-Kyunghyang Music Concours, First Prize at the Korea Philharmonic Competition, Second Prize at the Hankook Ilbo Music Concours, and Second Prize at the Chosun Ilbo Music Concours. He made his concerto debut at the age of twelve with the New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and has since appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Seoul Symphony Orchestra and the Seoul Chamber Orchestra. He has also been active as a recitalist, presenting a solo recital at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in 1998 and a Kumho Young Artist Recital in 2002. In 2008, he participated in the recording of violinist Jiyeon Kim’s album Serenata Notturno, released by Decca.


Kim has expanded his career internationally through concerto appearances with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra in Boston and the MAV Symphony Orchestra in Budapest. During and after his doctoral studies, he performed on a wide range of stages, including a Carnegie Hall recital, the JSAC Invitational Gala Concert, a guest concerto appearance with the Georgia State University Symphony Orchestra, and an invited recital presented by the Tongyeong International Music Foundation. He has also demonstrated orchestral leadership as concertmaster of numerous Korean and international orchestras, including Atlanta Sinfonia at the Korean Film Music Concert in Atlanta. 


He currently serves as a full-time professor at the College of Music and Performing Arts at Keimyung University, where he continues to balance teaching and performance. As an active chamber musician, he performs with various ensembles including Trio ON, V9 Ensemble, Hwaum Chamber Orchestra, Daegu Virtuoso Chamber, New-Old Ensemble, and Ensemble The First. He continues to engage audiences through diverse performances, including concerts at Seokjojeon Hall of Deoksugung Palace. 


His teachers include Nam-Yun Kim, Dong-Hyun Kim, Sang-Woo Park, Lucie Robert, Todd Phillips, and Michael Kim.
