열정과 감성, 그리고 지성을 겸비한 피아니스트 최영미는 폭넓은 관객들과 만나며 정상급 피아니스트의 입지를 굳건하게 하고 있다.

그는 서울예고와 서울대학교 기악과를 실기 수석으로 졸업하였고, 동아음악콩쿨, KBS신인음악콩쿨, 부산음악콩쿨, 세계일보콩쿨, 조선일보콩쿨 등을 석권한 후, 독일로 유학하여 베를린 국립음대 전문연주자과정과 하노버 국립음대 최고연주자과정을 최우수 졸업하였다. 이후 미국으로 건너가 인디애나 주립대(사우스밴드)에서 전액장학생으로 Artist Diploma 과정을 졸업하였고 귀국 후에는 서울대학교에서 단과대 전체 수석으로 박사학위를 취득하였다. 신수정, 문익주, 임해정, Klaus Hellwig, Matti Raekallio, Alexander Toradze를 사사하였다.

Mendelssohn 국제콩쿨 대상, Pietro Argento 국제콩쿨 2위 등 유수의 국제콩쿨에 입상하였으며, 독일, 영국, 이탈리아, 스페인, 핀란드, 러시아, 미국, 루마니아, 오스트리아 등의 주요 연주홀에서 초청독주회, 서울대 음대오케스트라, KBS오케스트라, 코리안심포니, 청주시향, Ukraina Kiev Radio Symphony, Russia Havarovsk Symphony, Moldova National Symphony, Orchestra Filharmonica “Mihail Jora” di Bacau, 광명시립교향악단, Rumania Banatul Timisoara Philharmonie, 러시아 야쿠츠크필하모닉, 고양예고오케스트라, 서울챔버앙상블, Russia Vladivostok Symphony, 부산신포니에타, KT챔버오케스트라, 서울교대 에듀필하모닉 등 국내외 정상급 교향악단과 수십여회 협연하였다. 또 스페인 Tenerife 국제음악제, 러시아 Omsk 국제음악제, 음연 제주 국제음악제 등 국내 유수 음악제에 초청교수로 참여하였으며, 유럽 및 아시아 여러 도시에서 마스터클래스 및 특강을 통해, 학생들과 만나고 있으며, 아리랑TV, 교통방송 등에서 영어 방송을 통해 대중에게 클래식 음악을 알리고 있다.

​한국문화예술위원회 후원으로 ‘프로코피에프 피아노소나타’ 전곡을 연주하였으며, <예술의전당 아티스트>로 선정되었고, 베를린필하모니 초청독주회, 시카고 Myra Hess Foundation 초청독주회(WTMF 라디오 생중계), 진주국제음악제, 대한민국예술원 초청연주 등 활발한 연주 활동과 함께, 베트남 문화체육관광부 개최 ‘초·중등 음악교육 국제학회’에서 ‘한국의 초등학교 음악교육’에 대해 발표하였다. 또한 동아쥬니어 음악콩쿠르, 스타인웨이 콩쿠르, 호치민 국제음악콩쿨, 옴스크국제음악콩쿨 등 국내외 유수 콩쿠르에 심사위원으로 위촉되었다.

현재 서울교육대학교 음악교육과 교수 겸 서울교육대학교 음악영재원 원장으로 재직 중이다.

Pianist Choi Young-Mi, who combines passion, emotion, and intelligence, is solidifying her position as a top pianist by meeting a wide range of audience.

She graduated from Seoul Arts High School and the Department of Instrumental Music at Seoul National University, won the Dong-A Music Competition, KBS Rookie Music Competition, Busan Music Competition, Sekye Ilbo Competition, and Chosun Ilbo Competition. Later, she moved to the United States and graduated from Indiana State University (South Band) with full scholarship in Artist Diploma course, and after returning to Korea, she obtained a Ph.D. graduating summa cum laude at Seoul National University. She studied under Shin Soo-jung, Moon Ik-ju, Lim Hae-jung, Klaus Hellwig, Matti Raekallio, and Alexander Toradze.

She has won prestigious international competitions, including Grand Prize at Mendelssohn International Competition and 2nd place at the Pietro Argento International Competition, and has been invited to perform solo recital at major concert halls in Germany, Britain, Italy, Spain, Finland, Russia, the United States, Romania, Austria, and has collaborated dozens of times with top domestic and foreign symphony orchestras such as the Seoul National University Music Orchestra, KBS Orchestra, Korean Symphony, Cheongju Symphony, Ukraine Kiev Radio Symphony, Russia Havarovsk Symphony, Moldova National Symphony, Orchestra Filharmonica "Mihail Jora" di Bacau, Gwangmyeong Symphony Orchestra, Romania Banatulis Timonica Symphony Orchestra ,Yakutsk Philharmonic, Goyang Art School Orchestra, Seoul Chamber Ensemble, Russia Vladivostok Symphony, Busan Sinfonietta, KT Chamber Orchestra, and Seoul National University of Education. She also participated as an invited professor at leading foreign music festivals such as Spain's Tenerife International Music Festival, Russia's Omsk International Music Festival, and Eumyeon Jeju International Music Festival and met students through master classes and special lectures in various cities in Europe and Asia, and promotes classical music to the public through English broadcasts on Arirang TV and transportation broadcasts.

She performed all of "Prokofiev Piano Sonata" sponsored by the Korea Art and Culture Committee and was selected as the artist for Seoul Art Center. Along with active performances such as the Berlin Philharmonic Invitational Concert, the Chicago Myra His Foundation Invitational Concert (WTMF Radio Live), the Jinju International Music Festival, and the Korean Academy of Arts, She made a presentation of Korean Music Education at the "International Society for Elementary and Secondary Music" held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam. She was also appointed as a judge for leading domestic and foreign competitions such as the Dong-A Junior Music Competition, the Steinway Competition, the Ho Chi Minh International Music Competition, and the Omsk International Music Competition.

She is currently a professor of music education at Seoul National University of Education and is director of the Seoul National University of Education's Music Gifted Center.
